For anyone who loves music and can manage a bit of time without interruptions I recommend the following: spending half an hour splayed in bed listening to some absorbing tunes.
It is one of the most rewarding meditative exercises I’ve come across. Very importantly, the time should be scheduled and treated with respect. It is dedicated to endulging in the music. For that half hour I free myself from the guilt of I-should-be-doing-something-else. I develop my being-present-muscle-memory and reap the benefits of consciously-doing-something-I-love.
The start of the new year can be an attractive time for making resolutions to work on the challenging parts of our lives. Please let's remember that it is VERY important to cultivate the enjoyable parts as well.
