This is my third winter taking cold showers and practicing the Wim Hof Method. It amazes me how my relationship to the cold has changed.
The stress of cold water impacting my skin used to give me the shivers and the urge to shrink up into a ball. Now it gives me a zing: I'm alert, energised and alive.
Recently I thought of experimenting with the zing in other stress forms. I received an unexpected phone call which brought about immediate stress which I could sense as subtle clenching of the shoulders and frowning. In that moment I turned it into a zing. I became stressed AND alert. This has happened a few more times and it’s got me wondering.
Is there something about directing the physical manifestation of a stress into a zing?
